The PalaValentia arena celebrated the club’s qualification for the quarter-finals, which they began without fear. A gym filled with flags, choreographies, as well as a proud home team welcomed the world champions, who had to find the antidote against the pride and exuberance of the home team. Vibo even found itself with 5-point advantages at various point of the sets but Trento’s experience eventually prevailed. Vibo registered a good 49% in attack, 51 for Trento, both teams had 8 blocks while Trento led 4-3 in the aces. MVP: Raphael.
Rocco Barone (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We might have lacked composure in the clutch time. We lost the first set on details, then Trento played better than us in the second, while we proved we could play face to face in the third although they scored the big points when it mattered most”
Radostin Stoytchev (coach Itas Diatec Trentino): “The final score does not really tell the story of Vibo’s game. They have already shown in these playoffs they are in good shape, and they especially play well at home. We also had a bit of luck in the decisive moments but I am extremely satisfied with the result”.

Latina did it again. Just like in the first regular season meeting, they disposed of the Italian champions at the tie-break and tied the series at 1-1. Latina built their success on some excellent digs while Macerata was very good at the net. In the fifth set, the hosts took a 7-5 lead but would be pegged back at 9 all, only to escape again on two Troy counters. A block from Gitto and a missed serve from Savani gave Latina the victory.
Daniele Sottile (Andreoli Latina): “It’s been a tough game. Macerata is a great team, they really made it hard for us with their blocking. They have not been at their best today, and we took advantage. We managed to extend the series, now we’ll see what happens”.
Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Congratulations to Latina. We had had two good weeks of training and positive friendly games but today we did not manage to play a tour best. We know our potential, so we know we have what it takes to immediately bounce back in the next games”.
