2014 CEV DenizBank Champions League
Second week of Champions League action. All three Italians will play on Wednesday. Macerata will be in Austria to face AICh/Dob. Giuliani’s boys were quick to put the Super Cup disappointment behind them with three consecutive straight set victories (against Molfetta, Kazan and Latina in that order). In the first round, the Austrians lost against the Holders, Novosibirsk.
Piacenza will be on the road too. They will meet the French champs of Tours for a match-up between the two teams that won the first round.
Finally, Trento will play host to Lugano, coached by the Italian duo of Motta and Camperi. On their first participation, the Swiss had a stunning start by beating the Turkish team of Izmir at the tie-break. After the World Club Championships, Trento gathered two 3-0 wins in the league (vs Ravenna) and Champions League (vs Berlin).

With the new Golden Set regulation, Cuneo just needs one point (2-3 defeat) against Nantes to qualify to the 8th of final. 3-1 winners of the first leg, Piazza’s boys will need two sets or a win to go through, anything less than that would send them to the tricky Golden Set. Setter Manuel Coscione will be back. In the first leg he had led the team to victory in his first official game played. Without him, two horrible losses conceded in the league against Perugia and Verona.
