TOP VOLLEY LATINA – ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO 2-3 (25-21, 26-24, 24-26, 20-25, 14-16) – TOP VOLLEY LATINA: Manià (L), Rauwerdink 4, Sottile 3, Skrimov 22, Tailli, Van De Voorde 10, Rossi 6, Starovic 25, Semenzato, Urnaut 11. DNP Pellegrino, Davis. Coach. Blengini.

ENERGY T.I. DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 22, Birarelli 13, Zygadlo, Nemec 10, Giannelli, Lanza 24, Solé 15, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi. DNP Nelli, Thei, Mazzone, Burgsthaler. Coach. Stoytchev.

Labelled as the big game of this weekend, it fully met the expectations: almost two hours and a half of top volleyball in a packed PalaBianchini arena. Just like against Perugia, Trento managed to come back from 2-0 down to clinch victory. Latina only takes a point but remains close to the top teams.

In the tie-break, Latina fought back after a rocket start from Trento and got within one (11-12). And it was all tied at 14, but a Solè block gave Trento the win.

MVP Filippo Lanza

Dario Simoni (Ass.coach Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “Latina was brilliant and really made in hard for us at the start, but then we found the kind of quality we have in training. I’m sure Latina will do very well this season, they have top quality players”.

Gianrio Falivene (President Top Volley Latina): “I don’t want to say anything on the amazing Latina fans. We played very well, at the same level of a great team. We managed to stay close, we just missed that little something to win the third set. But our goal was precisely this: fight hard against any opponent”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – CMC RAVENNA 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22)

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 8, Fromm 12, Paolucci, De Cecco 3, Giovi (L), Barone, Tzioumakas, Beretta 11, Vujevic 6, Atanasijevic 24, Maruotti 2. DNP Fanuli, Sunder. coach. Grbic.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 9, Ricci, Cavanna 1, Gabriele, Jeliazkov 10, Koumentakis 13, Goi (L), Cester 3, Bari (L), Cebulj 20. DNP Zappoli. coach. Kantor.

Perugia keeps its winning streak going thanks to a four set victory over a good Ravenna side. In front of 3000 fans, the Block Devils had to work hard to get where they wanted against a team that was excellent in spite of being without Toniutti and Renan. However, they could count on the Slovenian Cebulj, who has a bright future ahead of him. Atanasijevic was the top scorer once again with 4 aces and 24 total points, while Vujevic showed the way with some magical plays.

MVP: Goran Vujevic

Simone Buti (Sir Safety Perugia): “It was really hard, but that’s the SuperLega. Ravenna had to change setter and outside hitter but was still an excellent team. It was a hard-fought game. We did a great job of keeping control, especially in the fourth set. And we have to learn the lessons of the second set in order not to make the same mistakes”.

Andrea Bari (CMC Ravenna): “We had our problems this week but promised ourselves to play without fear, and that’s what we did. But in the end there’s always something missing. Perugia is definitely a very strong team, but I think we’d have deserved a point today”.

MODENA VOLLEY – EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-15)

MODENA VOLLEY: Mossa De Rezende 5, Casadei, Rossini (L), Ngapeth 16, Piano 7, Verhees 9, Kovacevic 13, Vettori 7. DNP Sala, Petric, Boninfante, Donadio. Coach. Lorenzetti.

EXPRIVIA NELDIRITTO MOLFETTA: Candellaro 4, Noda Blanco 10, Sket 3, Del Vecchio, Spirito 1, Romiti (L), Kooistra 7, Puliti, Bossi 5, Blagojevic 1, Hierrezuelo 1. DNP Porcelli. Coach. Di Pinto.

In a completely yellow PalaPanini arena, Modena swept Molfetta to stay top of the table. MVP: Bruno Mossa De Rezende

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Modena Volley): “I couldn’t be happier with the way the boys are playing. I really couldn’t complain after a 3-0 win. I see everybody working hard, they’re playing and enjoying themselves, they live their sport with a smile, and it’s clear the good results make us stronger. Sooner or later we’ll lose a set, we’re not looking at those 18 sets won, we focus on getting better, all of us, that’s the only way to achieve great things”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (coach Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta): “Congratulations to Modena really, and to their great coach. At one point we tried to fight back, which was good, but I’d have liked more conviction. But it’s clear that against such a strong team , It’s hard to keep up”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA – ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-14) – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE TREIA: Fei 14, Henno (L), Parodi, Paparoni (L), Stankovic 5, Kovar 13, Shumov 2, Kurek 15, Baranowicz 7, Podrascanin 7. DNP Monopoli, Bonacic. Coach. Giuliani.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO-SANSEPOLCRO: Teppan, Lensi, Corvetta 1, Dolfo 3, Daldello, Tosi (L), Della Lunga 4, Aganits 5, Maric 9, Randazzo 10, Mazzone 8. DNP Franceschini. Coach. Montagnani.

Treia is unstoppable in the league, and even more so at home. The Italian champions dominated Castello in straight sets to make it six wins in as many games in the SuperLega, the fifth on a 3-0 score, and the 20th consecutive at home. An unbelievable run that began in October 2013. MVP: Michele Baranowicz.

Luigi Randazzo (Altotevere Città di Castello-Sansepolcro): “We’re disappointed with the first set, we played face to face and had two opportunities to seal it. We failed to do so, and then they stepped up a gear while we faded. We really wanted to do well today, but from Tuesday we’ll focus on Sunday’s fundamental game against Monza”.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia): “Tonight we did well in some aspects, and instead found it hard in others during the whole game. We have had too many lapses, we have a tough run ahead of us, we can’t afford to play like that. Sabbi has an abdominal injury, he could be out for a while, we’ll have to see with the medical staff when we come back. Stankovic was not hundred percent either but he played and had a good game. We have been conservative on the serve tonight, we did not miss much but were not very sharp either. We must take advantage of this coming week to rest and get our game up a level, we’ll have to get ready for the tough games coming up”.

TONAZZO PADOVA – REVIVRE MILANO 2-3 (25-23, 25-21, 28-30, 27-29, 11-15)

TONAZZO PADOVA: Mattei 9, Orduna 5, Giannotti 23, Balaso (L), Gozzo, Rosso 16, Volpato 5, Garghella 1, Aguillard 2, Quiroga 22. DNP Milan, Beccaro. Coach. Baldovin.

REVIVRE MILANO: Bencz 27, Bermudez, Horstink 10, Kauliakamoa Jr 1, Patriarca 2, Rizzo (L), Mattera, De Togni 8, Dos Santos 9, Veres 17, Preti, Valsecchi 10. DNP Cerbo. Coach. Maranesi.

Both Padova and Milan were in need of points and it turned out to be an open game as nearly 3000 fans watched on. Funnily enough, three of the Milan players who started the game used to play for Padova. Some accurate dig and good counter meant Milan had the perfect start to the tie-break, and they would never let Padova any closer than the three point at 8-11. MVP: Dos Santos Vinicius (Revivre Milano)

Valerio Baldovin (Coach Tonazzo Padova): “We struggled in reception today, that was the key to the game. We have to keep working, but I am satisfied because we have never been dominated by our opponents in all the sets played until today. Some technical limitations were underlined today, but it’s the price to pay for having such a young team”.

Marco Maranesi (Coach Revivre Milano): “We started off with a handicap: Horstink’s knee problem. But we found an alternative, we changed our run of servers and became more consistent in the block-dig area. This is not a team that deserved to be without a point in the table and we proved it today”.

VERO VOLLEY MONZA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 0-3 (16-25, 21-25, 27-29)

VERO VOLLEY MONZA: Elia 4, Gotsev, Tiberti 1, Galliani 10, Padura Diaz 17, De Pandis (L), Jovovic 1, Vigil Gonzalez 3, Botto 10, Wang, Bonetti. DNP Procopio, Meneghello. Coach. Vacondio.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 14, Coscione 3, Pesaresi (L), Gasparini 7, Deroo 9, Bellei 1, Sander 13, Anzani 7. DNP Gitto, Blasi, White, Centomo, Borgogno. Coach. Giani.

Monza’s first win the Superlega has not come yet. Vacondio’s men have improved but could not avoid defeat against Verona, who bounced back from their home loss against Latina. MVP: Zingel

Oreste Vacondio (Coach Vero Volley Monza): “Shame, we could have done much more. We played a good first set, we attacked very well but did not receive as well. We prove to be an excellent team in attack. When they are in the flow of the game, Galliani and Padura Diaz can do great things. Shame we can’t maintain the same consistency in dig. Padura Diaz is getting better, we’re starting to see the best of him, he’s on the right track, he has to continue like that”.

Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “We play good volleyball but give too many points too. We had a lot of opportunities to seal the game before but couldn’t make it. And when you let the opportunities slip away, you pay the price. If you play good dig and then don’t seal the counter, it becomes hard. Still, that was an important win that will do us good”.
