The opening day of the Del Monte Junior League finals in Castellana Grotte is over. After the first three encounters, only Civitanova stayed perfect in this 25th edition of the league dedicated to the Under 19. Segrate won its two games too but one at the tie-break (5 points). The two groups are tight and will only be decided tomorrow.
Yesterday night, there was the inaugural dinner of the Del Monte Junior League 2016. There were all the club representatives, the local media, the local institutions as well as sport and political authorities.
Massimo Righi, the Italian Volleyball League CEO, commented: “25 years of Junior League is something special and it is beautiful to be able to celebrate this anniversary here with our friends of Castellana Grotte. The Junior League launched the career of some of the greatest talents of our sport. We even experienced the thrill of seeing some on the most prestigious international podium just a few years after their appearance here. In 2014 for exemple, Simone Giannelli won the Junior League and just a few months later he won the league title as a starter”.
