Big crowd in the PalaPanini arena for the game against Modena and the view was special with all the fans wearing the historical panini shirt to pay tribute to Peppino Panini, who passed away twenty years ago.  MVP Salvatore Rossini (Azimut Modena)

Roberto Piazza (coach Azimut Modena): “We won a difficult game against a great team. These are extremely valuable points for us, we’re extremely happy to have them. In Latina ? This will be another battle, like every game ».

Valerio Baldovin (coach Kioene Padova): “It’s been a similar game to the one played against Trento. Today we played better in dig and blocking. But we struggled to rebuild because of their serve. Shame, one set might have helped us to change things. We’re still a work in progress, we’ll need to keep working to further improve ».

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA – BIOSì INDEXA SORA 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16)

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA: Sokolov 20, Candellaro, Pesaresi (L), Juantorena 8, Stankovic 6, Kovar 5, Christenson 4, Cester 11, Grebennikov, Cebulj 18. DNP Kaliberda, Casadei, Corvetta. Coach. Blengini.

No surprise in the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova. Blengini’s men won it over the newly promoted side of Sora in four sets. This is their fourth three-point victory in a row. They stay perfect and become sole leader as Perugia will play tomorrow. MVP Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova)

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Cucine Lube Civitanova): “The three points is what mattered and we got them. We should never forget that each game has to be played and winning is never easy, against nobody. Besides, one positive aspect tonight was that players who had not played that much had their chance. This is something important because this season we will need everyone to contribute, everyone ».

Mattia Rosso (Biosì Indexa Sora): “We won our first set in the SuperLega and we’re extremely satisfied, this already means a lot to us, especially against such an opponent. We play one top team after another in this beginning of season. These games have been useful to us for the experience we get out of it. Hopefully, the results will come in the future. Today, our chances to get something out of it vanished when Juantorena came on ».

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA – LPR PIACENZA 2-3 (25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 14-25, 14-16)

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Polo 11, Jimenez, Partenio 1, Del Vecchio, De Barros Ferreira 14, Pontes Veloso 1, Olteanu 6, Sabbi 24, De Pandis (L), Hendriks, Ropret, Di Martino 12. DNP Vitelli, Porcelli. Coach. Di Pinto.

LPR PIACENZA: Manià (L), Parodi (L), Alletti 10, Papi 2, Marshall 10, Zlatanov 1, Yosifov 3, Tencati 2, Hierrezuelo 8, Hernandez Ramos 21, Clevenot 14, Cottarelli. DNP Tzioumakas. Coach. Giuliani.

Piacenza had the better of Molfetta at the tie-break and took two important points. Molfetta was outstanding in the first two sets of a game that seemed to be going one-way traffic. But Piacenza woke up in the third and fourth set before eventually clinching it by the minimum margin in the fifth. And that tie-break seemed in the hands of the hosts too. Piacenza was better in attack (58%) with Clevenot at 68%. MVP Fernando Hernandez (LPR Piacenza)

Gabriele Di Martino (Exprivia Molfetta): “We started off strong, pushed by these amazing fans. But Piacenza is a great team and they proved it in the last three sets. In the fifth, we gave it all, but a series of circumstances in the key moments prevented us from winning it ».

Raydel Hierrezuelo (LPR Piacenza): “It’s been a thrilling encounter. I knew it was going to be difficult to win here, I had told the boys we needed a breakthrough. We had a poor start, but we improved along the way. It was nice to see the fans again, they were like a family to me ».

CALZEDONIA VERONA – GI GROUP MONZA 3-2 (25-20, 35-37, 25-20, 16-25, 15-9)

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 8, Kovacevic 21, Paolucci, Lecat 1, Ferreira 18, Giovi (L), Baranowicz 2, Mengozzi 2, Djuric 26, Anzani 3. DNP Holt, Frigo, Stern. Coach. Giani.

GI GROUP MONZA: Fromm 15, Dzavoronok 1, Daldello 1, Galliani 1, Rizzo (L), Forni, Jovovic 3, Botto 17, Verhees 10, Beretta 11, Hirsch 16, Brunetti. Coach. Falasca.

Beaten at the tie-break by Piacenza last weekend, Verona registered an important victory in the fifth set at home on Wednesday night against a Monza team who was full of confidence following back-to-back wins over Vibo Valentia and Milan. MVP Mitar Djuric (Calzedonia Verona)

Andrea Giani (Coach Calzedonia Verona): “It’s been a extremely strange game, a bit nervous. Instead of focusing on the game, we were influenced by this negative atmosphere, and we did not execute the things we can do. Some poor sets for both teams, then we had a good tie-break and took the win ».

Nicola Daldello (Gi Group Monza): “Today we proved we were a group with character, capable of giving a game to quality teams like Verona on the road. We never stopped believing, and we could even feel disappointed that, once we got the tie-break, we did not manage to snatch the victory. Still, this point not only help us make a little step forward but this gives us confidence before the important game against Sora on Sunday. We’ll have to be well-prepared and motivated ».

REVIVRE MILANO – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA 2-3 (25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 26-24, 11-15)

REVIVRE MILANO: Cortina (L), Hoag 14, Sbertoli 5, Tondo 4, Nielsen 7, Rudi (L), De Togni 11, Galassi 5, Dennis 10, Boninfante 1, Starovic 26, Marretta. DNP Galaverna. Coach. Monti.

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 2, Marra (L), Geiler 16, Michalovic, Barreto Silva 14, Barone 14, Alves Soares, Diamantini 7, Rejlek 29. DNP Costa, Buzzelli, Torchia, Maccarone, Corrado, Ferraro. Coach. Kantor.

Never-ending battle between Milan and Vibo in Busto Arsizio (2 hours and 14 minutes). In the end, the game went to the visitors on a 15-11 tie-break. This is Vibo’s first win in the SuperLega after a difficult start to the championship. Milan easily took the first set before it became tighter. Vibo needed just one chance to seal the second and third set. But in the fourth they failed to convert the game ball at 23-24. They would eventually win it in the tie-break.  MVP: Filip Rejlek (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia).

Federico Marretta (Revivre Milano): “Being without Skrimov made it all harder, because he is a top player and because this disturbs all the schemes we had prepared. We found it hard, especially in reception just like in Monza. We’re disappointed we could not win it tonight. We have to take this and turn it into will to work hard in the gym. We will continue to give it all in training in order to try to get better game after game ».

Rocco Barone (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “Hopefully, this win will give us the spark to start our season. The beginning has not been easy. It was important to break the ice and bring some points. Winning helps winning. I’ve seen the team with more determination today. This is something we had lacked against Molfetta on Sunday. It’s been a good game. Credit to Milan but to ourselves too ».
