Trento won 31° derby of Adige on road in Verona at AGSM Forum. It was a funny game, always lead by Angelo Lorenzetti’s team, who won first two sets 25-20 and 25-23, thanks to a great Uros Kovacevic, Mvp of the game with 26 total points in the end. In third Nikola Grbic’s team fought back and won the partial 25-19, but in fourth Trento stepped back once again and won set and match 25-20. After the good performance of serbian hammer Kovacevic, Grbic counted also on captain Filippo Lanza, 12 points for him, and on brasilian middle blocker Eder Carbonera, 11 points for the Olympic champ. For Calzedonia Verona the best scorer  was Jaeschke, with 16 points.

Nikola Grbic (Calzedonia Verona): “We are missing the toughness to face the powerhouses. We will need to grow up under this aspect of our game, we have to find the right balance, despite we are playing every three days. Next thursday we will have the chance to come back to win versus Latina”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Diatec Trentino): “We played a good game, starting with the right mentality and the right approach. Kovacevic was great in some part of the game, but he wasn’t the only one to step up and play a great game. I  feared their physical strength, and we were able to contain them. With this win we start a new path of road games, we’ll have some very important games upcoming, so it was fundamental for us to show what we can do”.

A clear 3-0 for Radostin Stoytchev’s team, who recovered Maxell Philip Holt in the starting six but is still waiting for Giulio Sabbi on the opposite side, also having Earvin Ngapeth limitated on the bench for some knee’s problems. It was a great game for Modena, with a great performance in attack and in the serve by Tine Urnaut (Mvp of the game) and Andrea Argenta, both with 15 points, with Mossa de Rezende Bruno who dished some great sets to his hammers. On the other side of the net poor performance for all the spikers of Lube, with bulgarian opposite Tsvetan Sokolov best scorer with 10 points. With this loss Lube lost ground in Superleague Standings, now behind 4 points from Sir Safety Conad Perugia.

Giampaolo Medei (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “We were in bad conditions, and it ain’t an excuse. The worst thing is that we played without energy and power, we were soft in every aspect of the game. We had an awful approach. Now we have one week of time to improve and think to saturday’s game in Italian Cup”.

Radostin Stoytchev (Azimut Modena): “We won the game with the mind, we always had good balance on the court, all game long. I did not expected to win 3-0. Argenta is starting to play big, I’m very happy for him. About next saturday’s game in Italian Cup, Lube is still the favourite”.

It was an incredible and infinite game between Kioene Padova and Bunge Ravenna at Kioene Arena, a great volleyball showdown between two great teams. Coach Fabio Soli’s team won the first set at the extras 26-24, but in the second Valerio Baldovin’s team fought back and grabbed the tie in the count of the sets winning the partial 25-19. The third was for Ravenna 25-22, and in the fourth PAdova fought back with a great effort, battling until the end, winning 32-30 in some heartbeating extras, clinching the access to the tie break. In fifth set Bunge Ravenna stepped up but Padova fought until the end. The win goes to Bunge Ravenna, but both teams were great. Best scorer for the winners was Paul Buchegger with 28 points, on the other side of the net, the best scorer for Padova was Luigi Randazzo with 30 points.

Valerio Baldovin (Kioene Padova): “We played a good level game, we recovered from the deficit in fourth set, when everything seemed to be lost. This is one point, good for us looking forward to the playoffs race, now we have to focus on our weaknesses and work hard in practice, we will take advantage of the stop for the Italian Cup”.

Fabio Soli (Bunge Ravenna): “I’m very happy for this win, on today the two teams showed to be very different in approach to the game, but to be the same in hustle and attitude. For this both teams were protagonists of a very emotional game, the most difficult game we faced in last years. I want to dedicate this win to all the players and to Marco Bonitta”

Fabio Ricci (Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “In Superleague every game is difficoult, and if you don’t play at your top you’re gonna lose. Sora played a good game, as they did in First Half of the season, where they put us in trouble. On tonight we played a good game, grabbing three important points”.

Andrea Mattei (Biosì Indexa Sora): “Probably we deserved one set on tonight, we played very well, I’m happy for me and my teammates. We had lack of experience, making mistakes in the crunch time of the sets, this is our main problem”.
