At the BLM Group Arena the spotlight is again on on Itas Trentino: in the late afternoon today the preparation for the 2022/23 season of the Trentino Volley men’s team began.
A little less than eight weeks after the debut in SuperLega Credem Banca (scheduled for October 2nd in the via Fersina stadium against Siena), the yellow-blue team gathered and started to carry out the training program which, at least in the first part, it will be characterized by the presence in the gym of less than half of the players of the new squad; all the others are at work with their respective national teams, given that the World Cup will start at the end of August and the Under 20 European Championship will be played in mid-September.
To respond to the first call of Angelo Lorenzetti today there were therefore only five of the fourteen players on the official roster: Captain Matey Kaziyski, the returning Gabriele Nelli and the new faces of Domenico Pace (libero), Niccolò Depalma (setter, promoted by youth league) and Donovan Džavoronok. The presence of the new Czech spiker from the first day (together with Laurenzano, the main hit of the yellow-blue summer market) was inevitably the most interesting element of the first training session, attracting the attention of the media present. From Thursday the young South Tyrolean central Martin Berger will also join, taken from SSV Bruneck in the last hours of the market. Together with the small group of Gialloblù players, six of the most interesting prospects of the Youth Sector will train, who will then play the Serie B championship with the UniTrento Volley: the setter Bernardis, the opposite Brignach, the spikers Bristot and Parolari, the Dell’Osso and Frassanella power plants.
“The SuperLega debut with Siena seems far away but in reality it is closer than you think – underlined the coach Angelo Lorenzetti in the opening preparations -; for this reason we wanted to start training earlier than usual and we did it with great enthusiasm. It does not matter if in this first phase of training we will have few players available; what counts is the determination with which we will enter the gym every day and with which we will try to recognize ourselves for who we are “.
