The calendar of the 2022/23 season is enriched with a further and prestigious international commitment for Trentino Volley. The Via Trener club will be at the starting line of the 2022 Club World Cup, scheduled again in Brazil, in Betim (the city that had already hosted the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2021 editions), between 7 and 11 December next, thanks to the second place won in the last CEV Champions League.
It was the same Fivb this morning to formalize the dates, venue and teams that are entitled to participate, thus confirming to Trentino Volley the certainty of its presence among the teams that will compete in the annual world championship. For the tenth time in its history, the Via Trener Club will compete in the Club World Cup, an event that has won more than anyone else: a total of five; four consecutively between 2009 and 2012 and then also in 2018.
The presence in Brazil will allow the Gialloblù to go hunting for the sixth world title, trying to represent the Italian SuperLega in the best possible way and, at the same time, bringing the name of Trentino back to the world. The list of six teams that are eligible to participate in the tournament includes the Brazilian teams of Sada Cruzeiro, Itambé Minas and Vôlei Renata (top three in the South American 2022 tournament), the Iranians of Paykan Teheran (reigning Asian champions) and of Sir Safety Susa Perugia, who took the place of the Polish Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle (winners of the Champions League, who gave up).
The formula of the world championship event will not present any changes compared to those applied in the nine previous Trentino participations: the teams will support a first phase divided into two groups; the first two classified of each group (which will be played with the Round Robin formula between 7 and 9 December) will access the semifinals and finals, scheduled for 10 and 11 December. Composition of the groups and match schedule will be announced in the coming days.
During the period in which he will stay in Brazil for the 2022 Club World Cup, Itas Trentino would have had to take the field for an official match of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23: on 11 December in Modena, a match that will be brought forward to Wednesday 26 October.
