The joint training session just concluded at the PalaFrancescucci in Casnate with Bernate (CO) between Pool Libertas Cantù and Gamma Chimica Brugherio ends in a draw. The first three sets were quite close (two ended with the advantage), while in the fourth the Canturini took the lead in the central part.

Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso starts with Matteo Pedron as setter, Kristian Gamba as opposite, Lorenzo Magliano and Giuseppe Ottaviani as spikers, Dario Monguzzi and Jonas Aguenier as central defenders, and Luca Butti as libero. During the joint training the coach from Cantù tried almost all the players at his disposal.

The first set begins with Gamma Chimica taking a couple of points ahead (13-15), resisting the attacks of the Canturini, and closing (22-25). At the beginning of the second set, Brugherio flies (2-8), Gamba recovers (6-9), Pedron’s turn at bat marks the overtaking (14-12, 6-0 run); Pool Libertas extends with Magliano (20-16), but the Pink Devils come back behind (20-19), draw at 22 points, but Cantù prevails (26-24). In the third set the Canturini took the double lead (5-3), but the Brughero overtook (7-8); ball after ball continues until Ottaviani’s nine-meter turn (15-12); the guests draw at 17, but Quagliozzi leads his team ahead (21-17); Gamma Chimica scores at 23 and takes the final (24-26). The start of the fourth set was point-to-point, then Magliano scored a 5-0 run which broke the balance (17-12); Rossi imitates him, and the gap between the teams increases (20-13); Pool Libertas wins thanks to an error in the opponents’ serve (25-17).

Top scorer for the Canturini was Kristian Gamba (12 points with 48% in attack and 1 ace) followed by Andrea Bacco (10 points with 47% and 1 block). 6 team blocks, with two personal blocks by Jonas Aguenier. Served well with 5 aces against 15 total errors.

“Perhaps it was our worst performance so far – comments Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso –. I didn’t like the approach we took, we suffered too many walls. Nothing to take away from Brugherio, who played an excellent game, very aggressive on serve and blocks. We could certainly express ourselves much better. On the one hand, however, it’s positive: something negative should have come after the latest performances, at least we know what we have to work on.”
