The week of preparation for next Sunday’s home match begins today for Avimecc Volley Modica, when at 6pm the white and blues will take to the taraflex of the “PalaRizza” to face Ermgroup San Giustino.

Another very difficult match at the start of the season which will see president Ezio Aprile’s blue-and-whites facing another team accredited to stay in the noble areas of the rankings.

The Modica sextet, in the two matches against Lagonegro and Sorrento, demonstrated that they are a team that can play openly and on an equal footing with anyone and the two defeats they suffered were only the result of some youthful mistakes in key moments of the match.

From the trip to the Amalfi coast, the blue and whites returned home with one more point in the standings, but above all with greater self-esteem, now they will need that extra “inspiration” to start winning and raise the bar.

“In Sorrento – explains Enzo Distefano – we played another good match in the sideout phase and in the break phase, something that was missing in the debut against Lagonegro and I have to congratulate my boys who, as requested by me, played excellent volleyball . We knew that Sorrento is an equipped team and taking home a point against a team that will do well the further they go is a good result. In blocking and serving we did well compared to the previous match, but in the end I have to admit that perhaps Sorrento was more incisive in the important moments. It’s a shame because in the fourth set I believed in it, but by losing it like that we allowed our opponents to get to the tie break better mentally. Now – concludes the Modica coach – let’s focus on the next match against San Giustino, another team equipped to compete for the top spot in the rankings. We all know that this year the blue group of the A3 series is of the highest level and that every match will be tough and will provide a spectacle for our fans who I invite to support us as they have already done with Lagonegro also against San Giustino”.
