It was an incredible battle that took place on Sunday evening at the Pala Bigi in Reggio Emilia, a match that ended two and a half hours after the starting whistle with many surprises, continuous reversals of front, and a tie break that really didn’t seem to want never end. A circumstance, this one of the matches ending in the fifth set, to which this A2 championship seems to be starting to get used to the public, considering the many tie breaks played so far, a clear symptom of a great global balance.

“We were very good at approaching this match – coach Ortenzi’s immediate comment – we knew that Reggio has great enthusiasm and intensity of play, we had seen them play a great match in Prata. In the first set we created the right break point opportunities, we exploited them and we were always very clear. In the second and fourth, although we didn’t play badly, we were quick to close some situations that could have made the difference. We must learn to play this type of championship, at a high level where we need to have the right patience, the right attitude, but above all we must not think that our team must necessarily win all the matches. We must create opportunities and exploit them with a bit of cunning and cunning, rather than always putting it on a technical level.”

Echoing him is the top scorer of the match, the opposite Rasmus Breuning Nielsen, capable of scoring 33 personal points, trailing his equal opponent, the German Marks, by just three points. “This year’s group is really interesting and good, and I think it showed tonight especially when we were behind, we had a great response.”

A player, who, beyond his great performances, knows he can still improve: “I think I can do even better on serve, I still have to correct a few mistakes in terms of errors.”

Coach Ortenzi, however, is satisfied with the team approach in this fundamental, which is increasingly crucial in modern volleyball: “Serving is a fundamental in which we can do a lot, Rasmus (Breuning ed.) and Fedrizzi must be calm and be able to shoot to the maximum. However, there are moments of the match in which you can shoot with all your arms, and others in which you have to fall back to give the team rhythm. Tonight, in my opinion, we were very good at keeping the batting level high throughout the match.”
