Avimecc Volley Modica was the guest of Mayor Maria Monisteri and some representatives of the City Council last night. One week before the start of the A3 series championship, where the Modica sextet will be the only Sicilian team at the starting line, the Primo Cittadino wanted to wish a season full of satisfactions to the Modican team that will be playing next Sunday at 6pm at the “PalaRizza” will face Rinascita Lagonegro, a highly rated team that has just been relegated from the A2 series, in the opening match of the Blue group of the Third Series.

The blue and whites were welcomed into the Council Chamber of Palazzo San Domenico to symbolize the closeness of the whole city to the team that will carry the name of Modica throughout Southern Italy.

During the meeting, Mayor Monisteri wanted to underline how, also thanks to Avimecc Volley Modica, the county city has over time become the “cradle” of volleyball not only in the Iblea province, but also at a regional level, and this also thanks to the perseverance, passion and desire to grow of the managers who have been carrying out this interesting project for five seasons.

“Welcoming Avimecc Volley Modica which will represent our city in an important championship like the A3 series – explains Mayor Maria Monisteri – is a reason for great pride, because for years the city of Modica has also been associated with the world of volleyball . Our city, I don’t miss an opportunity to reiterate it, has become the capital of volleyball with many clubs that need their spaces to train and play official matches, even important ones such as the men’s A3 series and for this reason I am working to ensure that the “PalaRizza “becomes the home of Modica volleyball in its own right, giving the structure in via Catagirasi all those services that entice not only from a sporting point of view, but also to visit the city. Being close to Modican sport – he continues – is very important for me because I think that we can only be close to sports clubs when we really know this world and I believe that it is important to give weight to Sport which I associate with culture because I think that sport is also culture. Being a former sportswoman – concludes the Mayor Maria Monisteri – I can say that cheering does a lot because it makes the team feel the warmth and encourages them to win more, so I invite everyone to come to the “PalaRizza” already on Sunday 15 October to fill the grandstand and cheer for our city’s team.”
