Every season in Cuneo we try to promote one or more talented young people from our youth, and it is also on this tradition that the Fiöi project is based, because training the men of tomorrow means giving them the opportunity to grow and continue their path once the youth are over.

This year, middle blocker Alessandro Coppa, born in 2004, who was crowned Piedmont Under-19 Champion on 7 May, is up to the first team. In these days Alessandro is grappling with another goal, the school leaving certificate; yes because in addition to sporting merits, the Fiöi project is also attentive to academic merits, which go hand in hand for personal growth. So we wish him a big good luck!

« I was surprised and very happy to be called up to the first team. Last season made me grow a lot, playing in two championships, both U19 and Serie C was really important. I owe my growth above all to the coach and to those who supported him in giving me directions at each training session and during the matches. Talking to coach Battocchio I understood that he will help me a lot in this path and to try my hand at the new experience. I will make use of everything I see and learn from players who have been in this new sector for more years than me.” – the first words of Alessandro Coppa, centre-back in Cuneo’s A2 series next season.

« I am very happy for the entire Cuneo Volley movement that there is a boy from the youth sector in the first team. I think it’s an important signal that the Club sends to all its “Fiöi”, meaning that if they have ambition and work hard one day they too will have the opportunity to be called to be part of the first team roster of their City. We spoke and he seemed to me to be a very aware and determined boy, it will be an important year for him to learn a whole series of things about “grown-up volleyball”, but I’m sure the group will be able to give him a big hand and for him it will be a formative and entertaining season. – coach Matteo Battocchio.

The presentation of Alessandro Coppa will take place tomorrow, Saturday 30 June at 10.30, at the headquarters of the WYD carpentry in Dronero, guests of the Marino family and in particular of Alessandro Marino, member delegate to the youth sector and partner of the Biancoblù Club, for the press conference official in front of the major local newspapers, television and radio.
