This morning at 11.00 the twenty-eighth edition of the Del Monte® Super League Super Cup was presented, which will be played at the Biella Forum on Tuesday 31 October and Wednesday 1 November 2023. The authorities who are taking care of the realization of the Final Four which will award the first title of the season. The event will be organized by the Serie A Volleyball League in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, the Municipality of Biella, the FIPAV Piedmont Regional Committee, the Ticino Sesia Tanaro Territorial Committee and the Biellese Volleyball School.

Below are some statements from those present at the press conference, with links to the ticket office at the end.

Massimo Righi, President of the Serie A Volleyball League: “A big thank you goes to the institutions present: the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, the Province, the Region and all the actors who made this event possible. In Italy two regions have believed and still believe in sport with great strength: Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna. The League returned to Biella after many years, because we were struck by the enthusiasm of Giusi Cenedese, who involved us right away. During the period in which we were in the area we noticed the presence of a very good basic activity. Now the only thing missing is Serie A… Biella deserves this result and I invite all local businesses to contribute to this objective. The protagonists of the Super Cup will be many, with Olympic, world and European champions. We want to try to fill the Biella Forum, because we organize these events precisely to sow seeds, with the idea of letting young people experience volleyball that the great players of the Italian teams can bring. Finally, a touching thought goes to Carlo Gobbi, journalist from the Gazzetta dello Sport who covered all 27 editions of the Supercoppa”.

Claudio Corradino, Mayor of Biella: “First of all, I would like to thank my deputy mayor Giacomo Moscarola for his great commitment and all the sports associations involved, obviously starting with the Biella Volleyball School: a model of collaboration that we must extend to many other entities in the city, because the results are evident and important events arrive. The Serie A Volleyball League has seen what we have done so far, has placed its trust in us, allowing the realization of the Del Monte® Supercoppa. I’m sure it will be a success and we will be able to be ready, encouraging the League to organize something else in our territory. We have a beautiful Forum and great potential to be able to express. As the Administration of the Municipality of Biella and personally I am happy to witness this Final”.

Giacomo Moscarola, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Sport of Biella: “I thank all the actors of this very important event on which we have been working, with the fundamental support of the Biella Volleyball School, for several months. With Giusi Cenedese, after the critical and public success of the tournament organized last year, we had this idea, launching our proposal to the League, which rewarded us and for this reason I thank President Massimo Righi. A national trophy will be up for grabs in our city and I have no memory of such an important event organized in Biella. The event will provide us with the opportunity for a new inauguration of the Biella Forum, which has undergone a decisive restyling, with the renovation of the audio and lighting system, as well as the parquet. The Administration is close to sporting events which are not ends in themselves, but represent a fundamental lever for territorial marketing: we will have four important national volleyball realities such as Itas Trentino, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sir Susa Vim Perugia, with many fans who will stop in Biella. A positive driving force that expands from sport to the territory, with a driving force that we will be able to exploit. There are still some tickets available and I’m sure that Biella will be able to provide yet another sold out.”

Michele Mosca, Piedmont Regional Councilor: “A heartfelt thank you to everyone present, to the local institutions and to the President Massimo Righi. As the Piedmont Region we have identified sport as one of the main means of promoting the territory, from every point of view, starting with the economic one. For this reason the Region wanted to be present and optimistic about this amazing event. I think it is very positive that the Region was involved in the reconstruction of the Biella Forum, because it demonstrates the importance that sport has in the current administration. I believe that this is a good bet, made to make the Biella Forum a lively arena with a lot to offer in the future.”

Giusi Cenedese, COL representative and President of the Biella Volleyball School: “Biella is trying! The push to bring events to Biella comes from afar, Piedmont is a region that has done a lot for local and national volleyball. What better opportunity to learn and improve for all the local teams, taking advantage of an event of this magnitude to involve more and more fans in the world of volleyball. I really hope that it will be an opportunity for all volleyball lovers, because the Biella Forum will host many sports enthusiasts. Many know how much work goes into an event of this type, volunteer work, commitment, passion and soul. We will try to convey our sporting will to all those who get involved during these fantastic days.”
