After so many years of volleyball, we thought we’d seen them all, we were wrong! What happened during the match against Da Rold Logistics Belluno surpasses all imagination.

It is true that, without the support of the video check, it is difficult to referee Serie A matches but seeing a crucial match faded in ABBA Pineto’s journey for a block by the LIBERO opponent creates many questions and a lot of bitterness.

We want to leave out the formal aspects of the course envisaged by the degrees of sports justice which highlight a further error by the referees in the time of confirmation of the request made by our captain. As per the video on YouTube, at the same time as the end of the race, in Italy, unlike the rest of the world, there is a unique regulation of its kind. The referee can make a mistake in his decision, and so far nothing strange can happen, but at the same time determine whether this totally subjective assessment can be subject to review at the video check, denied to our team on the offending occasion.

Even more disconcerting is the motivation given by the 1st referee verbally asserted: “the free thrower blocked the ball under the edge of the net therefore it is not a foul”.

There are many questions, starting with the designation of an inexperienced referee, among other things from the Veneto region. The same increase when the many efforts and investments of companies are seen to be thwarted with this superficiality.

Let me be clear, it is not an alibi for the technical difficulties of the moment of which we are well aware but we wonder how far such blunders can be accepted in a Serie A championship.

It goes without saying that if it had happened in higher or foreign championships we would find titles and a media following but our intention is to strongly draw the attention of the movement to this particular problem. This long examination wants to expose a constructive criticism for the good of our movement and above all of the sporting result on the pitch without any blemishes.

To our legitimate questions we expect the usual “unfounded request in fact and law” but someone must nevertheless point out a growing intolerance of the arbitration management.
For the curious and lovers of volleyball and sport in general there are unequivocal images available.
