Last Sunday of the regular season, Sunday of hope for Bcc Tecbus Castellana Grotte. On Sunday 24 March 2024, with first serve at 6pm, for the 26th day of the A2 Credem Banca men’s volleyball national championship, at the Pala Grotte di Castellana, the match between the Apulians and Sieco Service Ortona will be played.

On one side of the net, the Abruzzo people are already mathematically relegated and last: after the defeat seven days ago against Reggio Emilia, in fact, Ortona is stuck at 17 points in the standings, with no possibility of either reaching the third to last place or moving away from the last square.

On the other side of the pitch, New Mater Volley was forced to win by three points to continue chasing the goal of permanence. But full success may not be enough for the team coached by Simone Cruciani who, in order not to abandon the category, will also have to look at the result of the match (which will be played at the same time) between Reggio Emilia and Brescia: the hosts Conad, in fact, it is enough to conquer even just one point to achieve salvation.

The current ranking of the A2 series, in fact, sees Pineto at 27 and Aversa at 25 already mathematically safe (with the Campania team safe thanks to the seasonal victories achieved), Reggio Emilia at 25 (but lacking only 7 successes achieved so far in the regular season) and Castellana at 22 points (with Bcc Tecbus reaching Conad in the rankings, they are ahead due to the highest number of matches won).

Fight and hope, the three points on their own pitch and the wait for the result of the Pala Bigi: Bcc Tecbus has no other way to achieve salvation that was very difficult until a couple of months ago, suddenly possible with the three victories in the four days between February and March and then complicated again after the two stops with Prata di Pordenone and Ravenna.

There are nine precedents between Castellana and Ortona: seven victories for the Apulian team, two successes for the Abruzzo team. In the four matches played so far at Pala Grotte, Sieco Service has won only once in the 2020/2021 season. However, the last four matches all went to Castellana.
