After having made another leap forward this season, going beyond the first round of the playoffs, Consar now finds itself facing once again, as happened last season, the first in the standings, from Vibo to Grottazzolina. Different championships, and different teams but united by the same performance with which they ranked their competition: 21 wins and 5 defeats. The first semi-final match will be played tomorrow evening, in the Palasport of the Marche town at 8.30pm (free live on volleyballworld and deferred on Friday 12th at 9pm on TeleRomagna channel 78, match direction entrusted to Angelo Santoro from Varese and Marco Colucci from Matera).
The team coached by Ortenzi has been at a standstill since March 24th, the day on which the regular season ended, Goi and his teammates arrive very fast and well trained from a difficult quarter-final, overcome with authority and full merit and with two resounding home victories for 3 -0. “There is no precise recipe for facing such a long period without matches – admits Consar coach Marco Bonitta – and I say this because it has happened to me in the past too, but it is inevitable that the competitive pace drops a bit. I can’t know how much pace Grottazzolina will have. We’ll see it tomorrow.”
In the regular season, Yuasa won both matches but it wasn’t easy to beat Consar: in the first leg it was 3-1 with three sets won by advantage and in the return leg a tie-break success against an indomitable and combative Ravenna . “Yuasa is a very solid team, with important certainties in all departments – recalls Bonitta – and they have an opposing player who shifts the balance even when he doesn’t play very well, Fedrizzi is the best hitter in A2, he has a very expert libero, two central defenders with experiences in the Super League and this explains and legitimizes his primacy.”
Among the expected protagonists of this series of semi-finals there can only be Filippo Bartolucci, who arrived in Ravenna after having made a great impression with the Grottazzolina shirt. “We expect a very hard-fought match of a high technical level – observes the 21-year-old centre-back – because throughout the season they have shown that they have great continuity and I don’t think they will suffer too much from the absence of matches for several weeks. We know that they will be ready to win immediately, also taking advantage of the field factor. We, for our part, after the three matches against Prata, arrive at this semi-final with great energy and enthusiasm.”
In addition to the opponent, Consar will also have to deal with a stadium that will be bedlam.
