Trentino Itas is holding onto the field even in the most important match of its calendar year 2024 so far. The Italian champion team defends its daily match with a knife between its teeth by winning the first leg 3-1 of the 2024 CEV Champions League Semifinal against Cucine Lube Civitanova, who now find themselves with their backs to the wall. Soli’s men must confirm the result in eight days, in the return match in the Marche, to try to gain a pass for the final of the main continental trophy on 4/5 May; it will be enough for the Dolomites to win two sets, while the Marche players will try to win the match 3-0 or 3-1 in order to play for qualification for the Golden Set.
MVP of the match and driving force for the hosts is Michieletto with 23 points, Rychlicki (19) and Lavia (13) also in double figures. On the cooking front, an indomitable Nikolov, top scorer of the match with 25 points, fought until the end. Yant (13) and Lagumdzija (12) also reached double figures. The statistics, however, certify the Trentino victory.
Before the return match, Thursday 21 March (live DAZN), the two finalists of the last SuperLega Credem Banca Play Off will both return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon for Game 3 of the Quarter Finals. Itas, ahead 2-0 in the series, will host Valsa Group Modena from 5.00 pm onwards (live VBTV), while Cucine Lube, down 2.0 after the first two matches, will receive a visit from Mint Vero Volley Monza at 6.00 pm (live Rai Sport) with the aim of reopening the dispute.
