Trentino Itas’s run in the 2024 CEV Champions League will continue in the Playoffs with a match that has now become classic for the final draw of the top European club competition.
In fact, the German Champions Berlin Recycling Volleys will be the yellow-blues’ opponents in the double round of the quarter-finals, having separated themselves from the round of 16 this evening at the end of the double match with the French Tours (already Trento’s opponents in Pool B). For the third time in the last four editions the two teams will therefore find themselves facing each other in the final draw; the first match will be played away, in the German capital, probably on Wednesday 21 February (date to be confirmed and time to be defined), while the second will be played at the ILT Daily Arena on Thursday 29 February at 8.30 pm (date and time already official).
The two clubs already boast six direct matches in the Champions League, so much so that Berlin is among the foreign teams faced the greatest number of times by Trentino Volley, after Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Mosca, Maaseik, Kazan and Tours. The duel has already taken place in the group stage of the 2014 edition and in the quarter-finals of 2021 and 2022 (with Trento always passing the round). The result smiles on the Italian team with four victories to two. The team that has obtained the highest number of points in the ranking drawn up on the basis of the two matches in which – as in the SuperLega championship – 3 points are awarded for a 3-0 victory will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. and 3-1, 2 for the 3-2 win and 1 for the 2-3 loss. The golden set (play-off match to be played until 15 at the end of the second match) will be played only in the event of equal points. Whoever qualifies will face the winner of the quarter-final between Civitanova and Halkbank Ankara in the semi-final (double round between 13 and 20 March).
