The first men’s team of the Vero Volley Consortium won by overcoming Galatasaray HDI Istanbul 2-3 (16-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 12-15) after the peremptory 3-0 of the match in gone.

It will be the third European final in its history for the Brianza team, after the victory in the 2022 CEV Cup against Tours and the defeat in the last act of the 2019 Challenge Cup against the Russians of Belgorod. Mint Vero Volley Monza will have to wait for the outcome of the match between the Poles of Projekt Warsaw and the Finns of Akaa Volley, scheduled for Wednesday 7 February, to find out who will be the Brianza team’s opponent.

A masterful display of tenacity from the Monza team, who confirmed their excellent form in the third European club competition, once again offering an excellent team performance and emphasizing the ability of a very solid group who had to give up due to injury, also in this match, to Takahashi (today on the bench in the role of second libero) and Comparoni, who did not leave with the team to continue his rehabilitation process.

For this match the starting sextet was made up of Kreling as director and Szwarc as opposite, Maar-Loeppky as a pair of spikers, Galassi-Di Martino as central defenders with Gaggini as libero. Top scorers for the Monza team were the two spikers Loeppky and Mujanovic, authors of 16 points each, followed by Maar with 13 balls put on the ground.

However, there will be no time to rest for Mint Vero Volley Monza who will immediately return to the pitch on Saturday 10 February at 5.30 pm for the SuperLega Credem Banca championship, facing Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza at the PalaBancaSport.

The CEV Challenge Cup will always be assigned with the “home and away” formula: Monza will play the first leg away between 20 and 22 February, while the decisive match is scheduled for Tuesday 27 February at the Opiquad Arena.
