Those who love sport, those who follow it as fans, those who practice it, those who live it and those who work at it every day, know well that it is wonderfully rewarding just as it can be terribly painful.
Dark moments are sometimes just around the corner from a victory and you can fall into them in an instant but the solution to get out of them is not always immediate.
We must work together and united, without becoming discouraged and trying to rekindle that light that has gone out due to some short circuit. The one thing you never do, or at least I’ve never done, is give up and none of us will.
We will need criticism to understand where we are going wrong and, with the humility needed in these moments, we will try to all question ourselves to understand how to get back on the path we have lost. My trust in this group, including the staff, has not changed in the slightest, on the contrary, seeing them in difficulty pushes me even more to seek discussion to help them so that they can demonstrate their worth again.
The yellow and blue people have always been at our side and deserve to see a combative, courageous, determined Modena Volley, with eyes full of the desire to win and which brings the game that represents it to the pitch.
Today is the last day of this 2023, a year that along with painful defeats has also brought us joys and victories. My wish for my team and my staff is to look each other in the eye, to talk to each other and dissect everything they believe is necessary to demonstrate our value again, from first to last.
May 2024 be the beginning of a newfound positive mentality, of a newfound fighting spirit. Luckily I have neither pessimism nor nervousness, nor have I ever thrown in the towel. Someone once wrote to me that I’ll even break walls if I believe in something and that’s what we’ll all do together!
I am firmly convinced that there is only one way out of dark moments: rolling up our sleeves, working, remaining united, serene and focused, but above all without ever losing faith in ourselves.
If you are disappointed by what we have shown in the last few races, I understand you and I’m sorry.
Now, in silence and with great determination and commitment, we get back to work.
Happy New Year to everyone from me and all of us.
