The second round of the “Rotary Cup”, the Italian mixed sitting volleyball championship involving 23 teams from all over Italy, took place on Sunday 18 February in Verona. Modena Sitting Volley was included in the north-east group together with Pianoterra Ravenna, CUS Verona, Villanova Volley Bologna and Alta Resa Pordenone. After the first stage, which took place in Mirandola in January and in which the gialloblù had brought home a 2-0 victory against Bologna and a 2-1 defeat against Ravenna, the Modena team went to Verona to establish their destiny and play for access to the 12-a-side finals which will be held in Cesena on 20 and 21 April. In the first match Modena faced the hosts CUS Verona, in a complicated match at the beginning of the first set but which the Canaries were then able to control and take home with a score of 2-0. The last match of the group saw Modena against Alta Resa Pordenone, a Friulian team who in previous matches often managed to put the Canaries in difficulty, but thanks to an excellent team performance Modena managed to prevail in this case too for 2-0, thus closing the group with 10 points. At the moment Modena leads the group, but to know the final ranking we will have to wait for the last round of matches in which the yellow-blues will rest. In any case, Modena is already certain of access to the Cesena finals, it only remains to understand whether they will move from first or second in the group. The objective for the Romagna event in April will be to improve on the eighth place achieved in 2023.
