A balanced result in the joint training session with Coach Bombardi’s promising Serie B team. There was ample rotation on both sides.
Bicego started with the Antonaci/Grue duo at center. Sitti was the main diagonal player with Spagnol, and Flemma was the wing spiker with Maletti. Galliani remained on the sidelines as a precaution.
Kerakoll responded with the set-and-opposite pairing of Giurati and Andreoli, with Soli and former player Sartoretti on the wing. Another former player, Bombardi, was at the center, along with Orlando. A strong first set for the Mirandola team: a break in the early rallies gave Bicego’s boys plenty of breathing room, leading 4-8. The lead expanded as the set progressed, with the scoreboard reading +7 (9-16). The yellow-blues gained two more points before the end. The final score was 16-25. Excellent performance from the fullbacks: Flemma scored 50% on offense and an ace, while Maletti, unstoppable, knocked down 5 of 5 and scored two blocks.
Second quarter: Grue and Scaglioni were the only substitutions made by the two coaches. This time, Sassuolo ended up ahead: Stadium slowed down slightly on high balls and left the home team with a chance in the second half. Andreoli and his teammates closed the set 25-21.
