General Manager Beppe Cormio discusses the seasonal changes surrounding Cucine Lube Civitanova and the volleyball movement, offering his thoughts on regulatory changes, challenging schedules, and international surprises.
Let’s take things in order. It’s shocking that the Scudetto finalist is starting the season with such a tough schedule. What do you think?
Cormio: “It’s certainly not a favorable schedule, especially considering that at the end of the first half of the season, the standings will be decisive for qualification and the pairings in the Coppa Italia, which we hold. Having a difficult impact, with key players who we’ll only have seven days to play before the official start, represents a major handicap. It’s shocking to play a remake of the Scudetto final against Trento in the second round and the playoff semifinal against Perugia on matchday three in four days. We have some very tough matches ahead of us in the first six rounds; those who make it all the way through the tournament shouldn’t be penalized; if anything, they should have an advantage, as so often happens in Serie A football!”
What do you think about the asymmetry of the schedule?
“It doesn’t seem like a particular problem to me, even if those who have experienced it in other leagues don’t have great memories of that experience. I prefer to focus on the immediate problems; we’ll see the asymmetry on the pitch.
