After three weeks of stoppage, official commitments in Serie A2 Credem Banca for Campi Reali Cantù begin again. Coach Alessandro Mattiroli’s boys will take to the field on Saturday 5 April 2025 at 18:00 at the PalaCatania of the Sicilian town against the home team of Cosedil Acicastello for the match valid for Game 1 of the Round of 16 of the DelMonte® Coppa Italia. The Catania team arrives at this challenge following their elimination in the Play Off Quarter Finals at the hands of Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia, who won in two games leaving only one set to the Etna team.
Coach Alessandro Mattiroli presents the challenge as follows: “The away match on Saturday in Catania against Acicastello will certainly be very difficult. They are a very strong team despite having lost two good players (Giulio Sabbi and Mohammadjavad Manavinezhad, ed.): their roster remains at the highest level. It will certainly be tough, especially at their home, but we will try to give our best as we have done all year. It will not be easy for us to get back into the game rhythm after such a long break (the Cantù team played their last official match on March 16 in Brescia against Gruppo Consoli Sferc, ed.), but we are training to prepare ourselves as best we can”.
OPPONENTS
On the bench sits Coach Paolo Montagnani, who took over from Coach Camillo Placì shortly after Christmas, and has already been seen on the benches of Siena, Santa Croce and Tuscania among others. In the control room is the former Italian National Team Davide Saitta, a true Catania native, who arrived in the summer after the championship in Poland with Katowice.
