Sviluppo Sud Catania is pleased to announce the signing of Arinze Kelvin Nwachukwu, a Nigerian opposite spiker born in 2002.

This internationally renowned addition brings to the Catania team not only talent and physical strength, but also an inspiring human story.

Born in Nigeria, Arinze faced challenges and hardships from an early age that could have ended any sporting dream. At just 9 years old, he was the victim of a serious car accident in which he fractured his right leg and collarbone. In his daily life, as often happens with African boys, he worked as an apprentice in a shoe shop. But it was precisely from these hardships that his passion for basketball was ignited. Until the age of 15, he played soccer, like most Nigerian boys. After a brief stint in basketball, it was the allure of volleyball, discovered almost by chance, that changed the course of his life. While walking to the basketball court, he spotted a volleyball practice on another court. It was love at first sight.
