A special relationship, now well-established, and a strong local presence: these are the key ingredients that Yuasa Battery has chosen to form the technical staff that will support Coach Ortenzi in the 2025-26 SuperLega season. However, there is a very pleasant change, which also represents a return, albeit with a change of coaching staff. But let’s proceed in order.

Summer 2024: the newly promoted Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina is competing in the top men’s league for the first time, and in doing so, Coach Massimiliano Ortenzi has decided to take on a significant responsibility: keeping his team essentially unchanged. Mattia Minnoni on one side, Francesco Pison on the other. The former, a true symbol of Grottazzolina volleyball, Ortenzi’s faithful squire for years: no one better than him can convey to anyone who sets foot in Grottazzolina what it means to represent this little Cinderella from the Marche region for Italy. Pison, in his dual role as coach and athletic trainer, offers an even younger supporter to help them understand how to best develop the players on the roster. Alongside them are the significant and unexpected additions of Andrea Nicolini, an invaluable all-rounder capable of spending entire days at the Palasport between the youth teams and the first team, and Gabrio Piozzi, the numbers man, scout, and video match analyst for the M&G team.
