Today was a day primarily focused on weight room work for the Block Devils, who, led by athletic trainer Sebastian Carotti, are pushing hard in the gym, gradually increasing the weights in this part of the season, still far from official matches. For the veterans not involved with their respective national teams—Plotnytskyi, Ben Tara, Colaci, and Solè—this work follows the postseason, which continued until the end of June. For this season’s newcomers, however, this first part of their preparation is also important for them to begin to familiarize themselves with the Pian di Massiano facility and integrate into the group. Among the new faces is libero Marco Gaggini, born in 2002, who enthusiastically comments on his first two weeks of training in Perugia: “They went very well. The excitement of being here, of experiencing a new adventure for me at a club like this with teammates and a top-notch staff, is pure enthusiasm, and you give it your all. You’re like a sponge in these moments, so you want to learn as much as possible from everyone. The staff is highly trained, we knew they were there, they know each other, so even when I thought about coming here this summer, I had high expectations, and let’s just say they’ve far exceeded them.”
