Gianluca Galassi, middle blocker of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza, will be working in Ottawa with the Italian national team starting tomorrow, Tuesday 17 June, in preparation for the second stage of the VNL scheduled in Chicago from 25 to 30 June.

The first stage played in Canada has just been archived, with Italy closing the group with a balance of 3 wins and 1 defeat, with 8 points and fourth place in the provisional general ranking, and it is already time to think about the second stage.

In the second week of matches, Italy will face Poland, China, Brazil and the hosts of the United States. The debut of the Italian national team at the NOW Arena in Chicago is scheduled for Wednesday 25 June at 19:30 Italian time, when they will face the reigning European Champions Poland.

Compared to the first stage, coach Ferdinando De Giorgi has added five new players: Gianluca Galassi, Fabio Balaso, Daniele Lavia, Alessandro Michieletto and Riccardo Sbertoli who replace Simone Anzani, the other red and white Domenico Pace, Francesco Sani, Francesco Recine and Mattia Boninfante who have already returned to Italy. The five Azzurri will join the team in Ottawa where from tomorrow, Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22 June, they will undergo a preparation period and play two friendly matches against Canada on 20 and 21 June in the Gatineau sports centre. The Azzurri team will then move to the United States.
