Luca Loreti, libero for Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza, continues his run with the Italian Under-21 national team at the World Championships in Jiangmen, China.
After finishing first in Group D with five wins in as many games, today in the round of 16, the Italian Under-21 team defeated South Korea 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-15) to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
The Italian team, already confirmed as one of the top eight national teams in the world, will return to action on Friday, August 29 (2:00 PM Italian time) to face Cuba, who defeated Egypt 3-0 (30-28, 27-25, 25-17) in the round of 16. Their spot in the semifinals is up for grabs.
With today’s win, Italy’s total of six wins in as many matches has been played. The Azzurrini dominated the first and third sets today, only struggling at certain points in the second set. The top scorer of the match was Tommaso Barotto with 13 points, followed by former Biancorosso player Manuel Zlatanov with 12.
