Q&A with coach Giampaolo Medei a few days before the Umbrian trip valid as Game 1 of the Scudetto Semifinals at the PalaBarton Energy between Cucine Lube Civitanova and the home team Sir Susa Vim Perugia. The two teams will meet again under the net on Saturday 5 April at 8:30 pm.
How are training going in view of the first round with the Block Devils?
Giampaolo Medei: “We dedicated the last days of last week to a bit of rest and active recovery in the gym. We worked softly in an attempt to recover energy and fix some small physical problems to be ready for a full and crucial week like this one.
A complicated test is coming up. How will the team react to the absence of the captain?
“First of all I want to say that I am very sorry for Balaso. Not only is he our captain and a top-level athlete, but he is also a guy who cares a lot, he never backs down and I know that during this period he will suffer away from the field. Fabio has had bad luck, his is not a muscular or tendon problem, no one can reproach themselves for anything in terms of prevention. I have been saying since the beginning of the season to train 14 quality players. For 8 months we have been working to ensure that the strength of the group prevails over the individuals and that the players are as interchangeable as possible in their roles. For me, our chances of qualifying remain unchanged. We will play all our cards, knowing that we can be dangerous starting from Saturday night. We will look for the big shot!”.
