Sara Desini is the European champion! The Modena Sitting Volley player is a winner! Congratulations also to Tommaso Cuoghi, who finished eleventh with the Azzurri.

Italy triumphs in Hungary. The national women’s sitting volleyball team has written another historic chapter in Italian Paralympic sport. This afternoon in Gyor, Hungary, Italy, led by Pasquale D’Aniello, defeated the Netherlands 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-14) in the final of the European Championships. This victory allowed Francesca Bosio and her teammates to secure their second consecutive continental title, following the one they won in 2023 in Caorle (VE).

A winning run and a more than deserved triumph for Italy. The Azzurre dominated the tournament from start to finish, with seven wins in as many matches and no sets lost. After topping the group stage in Pool B thanks to victories against Croatia, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, the Azzurre subsequently confirmed their lead against both hosts Hungary and Ukraine, in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. The icing on the cake came this afternoon with a resounding victory over the Netherlands, which gave Italy their long-awaited second gold medal.
