Consar Ravenna has completed its roster for the upcoming A2 championship, the schedule of which will be announced by Legavolley on July 16th, during the final day of the Volley Transfer Market. Two promising youngsters from the club’s inexhaustible youth academy join the first team coached by Antonio Valentini: spikers Leonardo Capiozzo and Simone Fabbri. Both are coming off a season finale that saw them team up in the Under-20 national finals and the Junior League, where they finished fourth.
Capiozzo, 20, born in Cesena on February 24, 2006, has risen through the various youth categories and has participated in the first team’s pre-season preparations and numerous training sessions over the past three years. “After eight years of playing in the Ravenna youth sector, I’m fulfilling a dream: to become a permanent member of the first team,” he says, “which I’ve already known and been around. I wasn’t expecting it because it seemed like I was going to leave, but then at the end of the season, coach Valentini called me to tell me he wanted to add me to the first team. I can’t wait to get started, to train and play at a higher level. I’d like volleyball to become a career, as well as a passion. It’s a goal I’ve been pursuing since I started: I know that here I have all the conditions to grow and improve.”
Simone Fabbri, 18, born in Ravenna on December 10, 2007, is also a member of the youth team (his father Gianluca reached the A2 league with Pordenone and Prato). He also developed his volleyball career in the Giallorossi youth team and last season played in the Serie C championship with Pietro Pezzi. “When Valentini told me I’d be part of the roster, my reaction was one of surprise and great emotion. In that moment, I felt happier than ever. I know I’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to improve, grow, and learn within a group full of great players and excellent guys.”
