Italian libero Damiano Catania will continue his adventure with Allianz Powervolley Milano: it will be his fourth consecutive season in the Milanese jersey, a milestone despite his mere 25 years of age, which establishes the “minister of defense” as one of the Milanese team’s cornerstones on the court and in the locker room. “In Milan, I’ve become a different player,” Catania says from Spain during a rare vacation in a summer that will once again be tinged with blue. Here are his words, between ambitions and promises, but without predictions, because Damiano is superstitious.

Damiano, congratulations on the renewal. Now you’re already the longest-serving player in the Powervolley-Allianz Milano team: how does it feel to become almost a “veteran” of the locker room?

“It’s a bit strange, because before Milan, I always changed clubs every year. Settling into one place and making it my home was unexpected, but special. From the very first moment, I loved everything: the atmosphere, the arena, the fans, the way volleyball feels, like being part of a family. However, the veteran effect in the locker room is relative, because I don’t have the experience of players like Simon or Orduna, but I can contribute something: helping people understand what Allianz Milano means, how we work, and what the team’s strengths and areas for improvement are.
