A special evening for Modena Volley. At the end of today’s training session, the team and coaching staff celebrated and welcomed Gian Carlo Vezzani, winner of Minelli Modena’s first Scudetto in 1953, with a long applause.

A toast and group photo for Vezzani, who celebrates his 95th birthday today and represents the last living pillar of Minelli Modena, with whom he won three historic Italian titles between 1953 and 1955—indelible pages in the yellow-and-blue sporting history.

Sports Councilor Andrea Bortolamasi also attended the meeting. A simple yet meaningful occasion, uniting the past and present of Modena volleyball.

“A unique emotion,” said Vezzani, “I thank everyone for organizing this wonderful moment. Volleyball is and has been the most beautiful sport for me; I’m still passionate about it and often attend Modena Volley matches at the PalaPanini.”
