Luca Butti is Pineto Volley’s new libero. Born in Como, he turns 35 in December. The newcomer to the blue and white team represents the second addition to the strengthening campaign—following Riccardo Copelli in the middle blockers—and overall a highly experienced arrival ahead of the Serie A2 Credem Banca championship.

Butti has 13 consecutive Serie A2 Credem Banca seasons under his belt and 17 years with Campi Reali Cantù, where he was captain. He made 379 appearances in the cadet championship with the team from Brianza, and last season he tallied 122 perfect receptions (29.3% efficiency) out of 416 total receptions.

With nearly two decades of experience in Cantù, Butti is preparing to join Pineto’s coaching project: “I’m very happy to play in Pineto next season. It will be a very important year for me because, despite no longer being a young player, it will be my first experience away from home. Personally, this is a great motivation, especially because I’m joining a very ambitious club that has grown tremendously in recent years. The team seems very competitive to me, and I personally know some of the teammates I’ve played with before, while I have great respect for the others, who I believe are among the strongest players in the division. Pineto is coming off a fantastic season, and this will make the atmosphere even warmer: coming to play at the Pala Santa Maria as an opponent, I assure you, is not that easy, and that’s why it must continue to be our stronghold. It will be important to build a cohesive group right from the start, one that works hard in the gym so we can be ready for the start of the championship. For my part, I’ll try to put all my energy into this new experience to help the team, but also to improve myself, both as a player and as a person. I’m curious to meet the coaches and staff, who have all spoken highly of me.”
