Sir Safety Perugia is a virtuous and successful example of a successful cooperative.
The club attracted the attention of Legacoop Nazionale, which chose President Gino Sirci’s club—which has just concluded yet another triumphant season, establishing itself with authority in all competitions, at the Italian, European, and world levels—as a prime example to highlight in order to promote the value of sports cooperatives as a model of growth, participation, and sustainability for local sports organizations.
The black and white club was the focus of the national meeting, organized by Legacoop and Legacoop Umbria, along with Sir Safety Perugia, to reflect on the world of cooperatives as applied to sports clubs.
A major event attended by the presidents of Legacoop Nazionale, Simone Gamberini, the president of Legacoop Umbria, Danilo Valenti, and the president of Sir Safety Perugia, Gino Sirci, the highest regional and city institutions and the highest executives of the cooperative world.
The four trophies won this “Grand Slam” season—starting with the Club World Cup, won in Belem, Brazil, in December; the Super Cup, won in the Final Four in Trieste on March 1st; and the club’s third Scudetto, won on home soil after Game 3 of the Final against Lube; and its second consecutive Champions League trophy, lifted to the sky in the Final Four in Turin—were the focus of the panel of speakers, moderated by journalist Iacopo Volpi.
The conference was hosted in the Sir Safety System convention hall in Santa Maria degli Angeli. The company, led by owner Gino Sirci, opened its doors to its guests and provided the perfect setting for a multifaceted discussion, from legal and administrative matters to the values that underpin cooperation: “teamwork,” as the conference title stated. Values on the pitch: when sport and cooperation work together.
