Buoyed by advancing to the Playoff Semifinals after a splendid run of quarterfinals, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza is preparing for the European CEV Cup match in Slovenia tomorrow evening (8:00 PM on Thursday, April 2nd) against hosts ACH Volley Ljubljana, in the second leg of the semifinals. The match will be available on DAZN.
In the first leg at the PalaBancaSport, after a truly competitive battle, Dante Boninfante’s men prevailed in the tie-break: a result that, looking ahead to tomorrow evening, will allow Simon and his teammates to secure their place in the next round with a victory. If they win the tie-break in Ljubljana, the match will proceed to the Golden Set, while the Slovenians will advance if they win 3-0 or 3-1.
In the first leg, Ramazan Efe Mandiraci carved out a significant niche, finishing with 23 total points; Alessandro Bovolenta finished second with 21 points. In Piacenza, however, the top scorer was Toncek Stern (Piacenza in 2021/22), who scored 33 points for the Slovenians. The red and whites will have to find the right countermeasures to limit him as much as possible and secure a place in the final. In the other match, between German team SVG Luneburg and Belgian team Greenyard Maaseik, the first leg favored the Germans, who won 3-1 away.
