15 seasons in Serie A, 312 games played, 112 wins, and 3,262 points scored: the numbers of a great player, ready to ignite the crowd with serves, blocks, and spikes. Coach Giannini’s Banca Macerata Fisiomed will be able to count, for the next two years, on the talent and experience of Luigi Randazzo, the new red and white spiker.
Ten years after his last appearance with Lube, Luigi returns to settle in the Marche region. A career that has seen him play in various clubs in central and southern Italy, with the exception of a stint at Ah-Ahly, where in 2023 he had the satisfaction of winning the Egyptian Super Cup and the Arab Club Championship.
For the rest, thirteen seasons in the Superleague (Vibo, Molfetta, Macerata, Padova, Verona, Cisterna, Taranto, and Catania) and two in A2, with the last stint in Siena being less than successful.
The Catania-born spiker has plenty of experience with the Italian national team, having always been a fixture on the youth national teams and beyond. In 2013, he won bronze at the U21 World Championships, a result that paved the way for him to join the senior national team, where he finished third in the World League the following year. This impressive list of achievements, for Randazzo, isn’t a point of arrival, but rather a further motivation. He’s looking to the future, while never forgetting the past.
“At this point in my career, I wanted to relive some of the sensations I’ve had throughout my career. I spent time in Macerata in the youth ranks, but now it’s something else. I was looking for a team where I could work well, and I believe here we have all the conditions to achieve something great and important.”
