For Avimecc Modica the time has come to “break ranks”.
On Saturday evening the management chaired by Ezio Aprile organized a relaxing evening to say goodbye in the best possible way to what for the “Galletti” della Contea has been the best season since they have been playing in the A3 series.
A fifth place finish in the regular season and a defeat against Rinascita Lagonegro in game 3 of the play-off quarter-finals. A result that could have been even more exciting if only at the beginning of the season there had not been so many problems that resulted in a series of defeats that forced coach Distefano’s boys to start with a handicap.
Also present at the evening of relaxation and fun, strongly desired by coach Distefano and the club, was Lollo Cavasin who, having arrived in Modica to lend a hand to the cause, was seriously injured in the first match of the championship against Reggio Calabria and missed the entire championship.
“It was a season that started uphill already in the summer due to various events that disoriented us, but – explains coach Enzo Distefano – the management was not caught unprepared and immediately took action and with the arrival of Padura Diaz we overcame this first difficult step admirably. The injuries at the beginning of the season – he underlines – weighed on the first part of the championship that was deficient for the standings, but then with the work in the gym, in the subsequent phase the results arrived and I think they made this season positive.
