Modena – Sparkling Milano shows signs of growth in Modena too and after winning at tie break against Itas Diatec Trentino, they take over PalaPanini with an important 3 points victory.

All good for Modena in the first set who starts well in attack and takes advantage of  9 mistakes from the opposite side.  Time to swap sides and Milano comes back very determined. They lean on Martino, Gardner and Samica’s service but also on a great distribution which ball after ball it becomes more various and effective.

Cimone goes down and cannot react (Sartoretti in) and it is 1-1.

Modena is not reactive in the third set either and it is head to head but Milano goes faster with 2 blocks, 2 aces, 67% pos. attack and 84% pos. digging.

The home team finds its service in the forth set: Nascimento first and Murilo later let their arm go. Modena takes the leadership but is a spectator when Matteo Martino serves. The spiker is not scared and pushes it from 23-19 to an even score. Modena fails a set ball and Sparkling avoind tie break with Samica successful block winning their 2nd victory this season.

Andrea Giani(Cimone Modena): “It was a bad performance by the whole team, there are no excuses and alibies, we are suffering our third consecutive defeat in the championship and it is a big deal”.

Daniele Ricci (Sparkling Milano): “I am very pleased about a victory at PalaPanini. We have been playing well for a while now and we have always believed in it. Everyone gave an important contribution”.

MVP: Gabriel Gardner (Sparkling Milano)

Roma No problems for M. Roma Volley who beats Prisma Taranto 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-19).

Serniotti recovers Mastrangelo absent in Finland. So it is the starting six on court with Coscione, Miljkovic, Semenzato, Mastrangelo, Marshall, Savani and Henno libero. For Totire, Vissotto is back full time and he lines up  Nuti, Idi, Castellano, Vulin, Rak and libero Latelli.

Roma starts strong in the first set taking a good advantage on Prisma who can only catch them up slightly. Ivan Miljkovic makes the difference again.

Less points difference in the second set at least at the beginning the  Roma takes off. Totire puts Ardu oin to take advantage of his amazing service and it seem to work but it is just an illusion and the set ends 25-21.

The third set goes downhill for the home team too who get to 16-8, then the lack of concentration makes Serniotti call a time out (17-11). But there is too much difference. Totire tries to change the cards on the table with Shumov and Ardu but there is nothing to do. The third set ends 25-19.

Michele Totire ( Prisma Taranto, coach): «We played well in the first 2 sets but our mistakes serving and some wasted opportunities penalised us. I do not know what happened in the third set. I tried to make a few changes and with the enthusiasm of the ones who do not play much we maanged to score some points. However I am satisfied because we demonstrated to be a team made out of 12 players».

Manuel Coscione (M. Roma Volley): «The whole team played well, especially in the first set. In the second one we slowed down a bit. Anyway, Taranto was not the team we studied on clips today. On saturday we will play in the CEV Cup then against Treviso. Then we will have to demonstrate we are a different team from the one who lost in the Super Cup».

MVP: Ivan Miljkovic
