Roma – M. Roma Volley wraps up a special victory for the supporters who came to their Palasport. An almost perfect match which does not give Banca Marche Macerata a chance.

Needless to say that everyone was watching Ivan Milijkovic, gone from Macerata to Roma in the summer.

Great side out for both teams in the first set. Macerata tries to score the winning break but Roma and a super Marshall always manage to get it back. Roma steps further in the hottest part of the set, going two points ahead on 23-21. Macerata does not give up and with Igor Omrcen and Saraceni super digging they go on 23-23. At the third set ball, it is a block from Marshall to end the set.

In the second set, M. Roma Volley breaks the doubts straighaway and blocks the opponents spikers way. The rest is done by an always spiking service which slows down Vermiglio’s game. In a blink of an eye, Serniotti’s team goes to the first TTO on 8-2. De Giorgi tries to strengthen the attack with Gianluca Saraceni but Macerata still pays for a poor overall attack with their percentage falling to 30%.

2-0, Roma keep their march towards a three points victory which brings them to the second place in the standings in Serie A1 TIM. Their rhythm is still very high: service and blocking do not stop and De Giorgi’s team is not able to break them off so they change the spikers diagonal with Snippe and Saraceni going in for Swiderski and Paparoni. M. Roma is unstoppable though, they carry on scoring points until a final 25-19 which stops the Serie A1 TIM for the year 2007.

Andrija Geric (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “The first set was balanced but we made too many mistakes giving it away. In the second set we slowed down  and carried on making mistakes. In the third set we came back but it was too late by then”.
Wytze Kooistra (M. Roma Volley): “I finally played like I used to do, we were all perfect in all the areas. Now another break for the international activities then the last match we will have to play with great concentration in order to reach the highest position possible in the standings for the TIM Cup”.
MVP:  Wytze Kooistra (M. Roma Volley)
