SERIE A1 TIM

MACERATA SOLE LEADER

Macerata have left everyone behind in the Serie A1 table thanks to its 3-0 sweep of Perugia, who did not seem to have recovered mentally from its tie-break loss of the previous week. De Giorgi’s boys found the key to the game very quickly, putting constant pressure on the serve and causing a lot of problems to the opposite reception. Swiderski was named MVP, but many could have claimed the tile in Macerata’s team.

Montichiari gathered its first away win of the season at Padova. Coach Lombardi was still without Paparoni (shoulder) and stuck to the starting six that beat Cuneo. He did well as Padova will have to wait further to obtain its first victory.

Trentino did well to fight back after a great start from Vibo Valentia. Martina Franca kept its positive trend going with a 3-1 home win over Verona, who ends up without any point for the first time.

Pineto’s first win of the season came in front of the SKY cameras, as it defeated Forli 3-1 away.

The fourth round will be concluded tomorrow when Cuneo hosts Piacenza.

Peter Divis (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “I am happy because I got on court and I could play. Hopefully, I’ll keep improving. As for our performance, I hope our rhythm will increase”.

Radames Lattari (Stamplast Martina):  “We played a great game, I’m satisfied with the top level performance of my team. A special mention goes to our outside hitter Granvorka, who was the main man of our attack”.

Alberto Giuliani (Marmi Lanza Verona): “I expected to get some points out of this trip, but instead we suffered a defeat that will make us think. We only got in the game in the second set, giving away the first to our opponent. Too many mistakes on the serve while they did well in that department”.

Lube Banca Marche Macerata – RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia 3-0 (25-19; 25-19; 25-15)

Lube Banca Marche Macerata: Vermiglio 1, Martino 10, Podrascanin 7, Omrcen 8, Swiderski 17, Lebl 11, Corsano (L). Monopoli 0, Bartoletti 0. DNP. Giovi (L), Snippe, Saraceni, Santana 0. Coach. De Giorgi

Matteo Martino (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I’m really happy about this victory over Perugia because we got it against a team that was greatly strengthened this summer. This is our fourth consecutive win, the fifth if we count the Super Cup. This shows how strong is our group and how it keeps improving weeks after weeks”.

Giacomo Sintini (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “The defeat started with our problems in reception. Macerata continuously put us in difficulty, which is not easy to do considering the quality of our players in that department, but they were better in every area of the game and as a team. We crumbled and that had never happened before. We’ll have to face this new situation calmly and with cynicism. The important thing is not to overreact”.

Antonveneta Padova – Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari 1-3 (25-23, 21-25, 16-25, 17-25)

Antonveneta Padova: Garghella (L), De Togni, Meggiolaro, Maniero 1, Raymaekers 9, Kral 10, Mattera 2, Gato 7, Perazzolo 15, Kromm 13, Maruotti 3. DNP Gottardo. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari: Sala 5, Rauwerdink 11, Horstink 12, Tiberti, Paparoni, Esko 3, Howard 11, Bellei, Gavotto 17, Zito (L), Mani (L). DNP Forni, Pesenti. Coach. Berruto Mauro.

Giorgio De Togni (Antonveneta Padova): “We played face to face with Montichiari only in the first set. Then, we struggled more than expected. We have to get back on track as soon as possible and start gathering some points. The situation? It’s a team that changed a lot. There is a lot of work on, the team has to gel on and off the court. But I’m very confident”.

Daniel Allan Howard (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “We’ve learned a lesson today. We can’t afford to start a game that slowly. We could have lost today. The key moment was when we started to serve harder and put their reception under pressure”.

Yoga Forl – Framasil Pineto 1-3 (19-25, 29-27, 24-26, 20-25)

Yoga Forli: Henno (L), Molteni 1, Bittar 19, Cardona 11, Redwitz 3, Di Franco 10, Casadei 3, Loglisci, Bellini, Patriarca 10, Bozko 13. DNP Bendi. Coach. Molducci Piero.

Framasil Pineto: De Oliveira 23, Fantin 10, Vicini (L), Lampariello (L), Mancini, De Gennaro Leme 3, Rodrigo 26, Buti 11, Fabroni, Ravellino 6. DNP Hietanen, Sborgia, Jago. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

Alberto Casadei (Yoga Forli):  “It was important to take the three point, but we did not manage to do it. It’s true that we are only at the beginning of the championship, but it was an important test with crucial points at stake in the race to stay up. We made too many mistakes and struggled against their lively attack. Now we have to work hard and give our best in the next game”.

Simone Buti (Framasil Pineto): “It’s our first victory, obtained on a tough court. We nearly took the victory a couple of times but never clinched it. This win is for the fans that came to support us”.
