Macerata impressed once more getting rid of Forli in straight set to go top of the league. That was made possible thanks to Cuneo, who beat the Italian champions Trentino at the tie-break.

Modena ended its crisis with a 3-1 comeback win against Vibo Valentia. Coach Giani lined up young Dragan Travica from the get going and, despite a passing game not always perfect, he did not disappoint playing with pride and doing some damage on the serve and first-time spikes. Endres Murilo and Angel Dennis had a good game too. Vibo Valentia could not keep up with the rhythm they had set in the first set as Simeonov hurt his left ankle. Still, he heroically stayed on court.

Pineto kept creating upsets with a brilliant win away from home in Treviso. Cleber and Rivaldo’ serving was one of the key.

There was a road win also for Perugia at the expense of Verona, swept 3-0.

STATS AND QUOTES

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – YOGA FORLI 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-15)

Lube Banca Marche Macerata: Lebl 10, Giovi (L), Vermiglio 1, Bartoletti, Martino 9, Monopoli, Corsano (L), Santana 7, Omrcen 10, Swiderski 15. DNP Snippe, Saraceni, Podrascanin. Coach. De Giorgi

Yoga Forli: Henno (L), Molteni 6, Bittar 1, Cardona 7, Redwitz, Di Franco, Casadei 12, Loglisci 1, Bellini, Patriarca 5, Bozko 1. DNP Bendi. Coach. Molducci

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We did well to keep them busy with our serve and find consistency to keep them at distance. It’s a good performance, I’m satisfied, the work done in the gym shows. The mental part was good too, it’s something we never neglect. We have to keep going this way. It’s important to improve game after game and it’s even more important to get to the big games in the right condition”.

Piero Molducci (Yoga Forli): “We managed to play face to face only in the first set, in which Macerata took off thanks to our mistakes. From the second set on, game was over: They started to put pressure on the serve and there was no way back. There is little to say, when they play like that, I think it becomes difficult for anyone to even win just one set”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (19-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-21)

Trenkwalder Modena: Tencati 7, Kooistra 18, Rinaldi (L), Dennis 18, Sartoretti 1, Santos 6, Travica 8, Endres 18. DNP Lee, Smuc, Siebeck, Pagni. Coach. Giani

Luis Diaz (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We played the first set well, then our opponent got back in the game playing hard on the serve. The reception stopped working and we faded. We did not put the same rhythm as in the first set”.

Andrea Giani (Trenkwalder Modena): “The week has been tough following the Pineto defeat, but today the team reacted. Now, we have to think one game at a time, with making claims, but just going after the victories we need”.

SISLEY TREVISO – FRAMASIL PINETO 1-3 (22-25, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25)

Sisley Treviso: Fei 21, Hubner 9, Papi 14, Farina (L), Kohut, Saitta, Endres 12, Cisolla 9, Daldello (L), Garcia, Gallotta. DNP Capra, Antonov. Coach. Dal Zotto

Framasil Pineto: De Oliveira 11, Hietanen 19, Vicini (L), Sborgia 11, De Gennaro Leme, Rodrigo 22, Fabroni, Ravellino 4. DNP Fantin, Jago, Mancini, Lampariello. Coach. Montagnani

Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “Following the week of good training we had, such a performance is unacceptable, just like it had been unacceptable against Vibo Valentia two weeks ago. It’s not a problem of numbers or organization, it’s that we can’t seem to get rid of this nervous tension, especially at home, in front of our fans: I had a long chat with the boys to understand if it was a mental matter, which leads us not to play as a team in the tough times. We have to seriously think about this all together”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 0-3 (21-25, 18-25, 30-32)

Marmi Lanza Verona: Latelli (L), Parodi 2, Popp 8, Sottile, Lasko 12, Dehne, Szabo, Colaci (L), Maric 13, Semenzato 6, Bontje 6. DNP Volpini, Mosterts. Coach. Giuliani

RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia: Kovacevic, Savani 19, Nemec, Serafini, Sintini 2, Felizardo 3, Pippi (L), Vujevic 12, Stokr 8, Fanuli (L), Bovolenta 12. DNP Cruz De Carvalho Danilo, Botti. Coach. Di Pinto

Marcus Popp (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We expected to face such a focused Perugia team, just like we always expect to face a determined opponent. We could have done a lot better in the first two sets, but we lacked concentration and confidence. But credit also to Perugia”.

Cristian Savani (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We wanted to get some points but we didn’t expect to win 3-0. The third set was a hard-fought one, but we had the composure to seal it. The first two sets were near perfect and that gratifies our work. However, we never lost confidence, even after the losses. I’m very satisfied, excellent three points”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 16-14)

Itas Diatec Trentino: Kaziyski 18, Segnalini (L), Birarelli 13, Zygadlo 2, Della Lunga, Vissotto Neves 17, Grbic 5, De Paola, Winiarski 12, Bari (L), Stefanov 1, Piscopo 7. DNP Leonardi. Coach. Stoytchev

Silvano Prandi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “This game was a good opportunity for us. We approached it with the right mentality, getting rid bit by bit of the negative aspects. I had fun during this game, we played an entertaining game even though we made some mistakes, which are part of this phase, but we had the confidence that had faltered in recent games”.

Nikola Grbic (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It was a very tight game against a team ready to fight to obtain a much needed win. However, predicting that we would have given everything is not enough to take the game. Credit to Cuneo, who deservedly won it”.
