Padova’s first against Martina Franca

Padova came back from Martina Franca’s PalaWojtyla with its first two points of the season. Padova’s first joy coincided with a bitter debut for new Martina Franca coach, Marco Bonitta. The hosts had played the first two sets with great determination and focused. It even seemed on its way to seal the game quickly but then, in the third set, they physically faded, while mistakes and inaccuracies started to repeat with more frequency. Padova did well to hang in there and take advantage of it, led by the 21 points from Robert Kromm.  

Marco Bonitta (Allenatore Stamplast Martina Franca): “There was two games in one: we had a good start, then we faded in attack and not only there. Based on what I’ve seen in the first few days I’ve spent in Martina Franca, I think they physically struggled. Tonight, we couldn’t do more. The team I want to see in the next game is the determined and aggressive one I’ve seen in the first two sets”.

Bruno Bagnoli (Allenatore Antonveneta Padova): “We dedicate this win to the club, who had the patience to wait. Our championships starts now. We ran the risk of losing 3-0 even though we deserved to be 1-1. We did a good job of taking advantage of their attacking problems and playing with the right composure to come back and win”.
