SERIE A1 TIM

Macerata wins in treviso

Macerata intends on staying where it is now, top of the league. It proved it taking the big game of the day at Treviso. It was all very tight in the first two sets, a few flash of individual brilliance making the difference for Macerata. The team of new coach pupo Dall’Olio, tried to ignite a comeback but the guest did well to contain them and hand them their 5th home defeat in 6 played in their Palaverde gym.

Trentino responded to Macerata with a 3-0 victory over Montichiari. Meanwhile, Marco Bonitta celebrated his first win in the Men’s Serie A1 as Martina Franca coach, beating Modena thanks to a strong and effective serve.

Piacenza went back to winning ways in Pineto with a 3-1 victory. Marshall led his team with 25 points. The only tie-break of the day occurred in Vibo Valentia where the hosts had the better of Verona, showing solid nerves in the clutch time.

Stamplast Martina Franca: Ricciardello (L), Coscione 3, Moltò 5, Stancu 3, Cernic 7, Guglielmi, Stoijkovic, Mastrangelo 8, Sequeira 18, Rodriguez 19. DNP Quartarone, Granvorka. Coach. Bonitta

Trenkwalder Modena: Lee, Tencati 5, Kooistra 2, Rinaldi (L), Dennis 16, Sartoretti 12, Santos 9, Smuc, Travica 2, Siebeck 15. DNP Pagni, Bartoli. Coach. Giani

Marco Bonitta (Stamplast Martina Franca): “The boys have been exceptional. I’ll remember this victory for the rest fo my life because it’s the first as a coach of an A1 team in the men’s league, and to make it better against Modena. We built our success on the serve. I’m satisfied because the guys have already understood my philosophie of the game after hardly a week of training”.

Angel Dennis (Trenkwalder Modena): “Our situation is getting more and more difficult. We came in Martina Franca to win and we believed in our chances, all the more so after taking the first set, but a series of mistakes changed the game. Murilo’s absence was surely felt but that was not the cause of the defeat”.

FRAMASIL PINETO – COPRA NORDMECCANICA PIACENZA 1-3 (24-26, 16-25, 26-24, 23-25)

Framasil Pineto: De Oliveira 12, Hietanen 8, Fantin 7, Vicini (L), Sborgia 2, Lampariello (L), Mancini, De Gennaro Leme 4, Rodrigo 20, Buti 5, Fabroni, Ravellino 5, Vigilante. Coach. Montagnani

Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza: Rak 4, Meoni 2, Marshall 25, Zingaro, Zlatanov 19, Durante (L), Bravo 17, Dunnes 1, Bjelica 9. DNP Insalata, Grassano, Boninfante. Coach. Lorenzetti

Paolo Montagnani (Framasil Pineto): “Piacenza proved it is an excellent team. At the start, they surprised us, but we reacted well. Zlatanov had a great performance. Still, we’re disappointed with the 4th set, in which we did not convert the decisive plays. We’ll go in Verona to battle”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We needed this win. We played to perfection in the first set, while Pineto played better in the third. We’re always the same team, it’s not that we were poor before and that all of a sudden we became a great team”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONTICHIARI 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22)

Itas Diatec Trentino: Kaziyski 13, Segnalini (L), Birarelli 10, Della Lunga, Vissotto Neves 11, Grbic 5, Winiarski 11, Bari (L), Stefanov 1, Piscopo 4. DNP Zygadlo, De Paola, Garcia Pires Ribeiro. Coach. Stoytchev

Leandro Vissotto (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We had a good game, although we can obviously improve. It was important to take the three points to get back on track straight away after the defeat in Cuneo. I personally did not start brightly this game, but coming out in the second set did me a lot of good. Poi, I came back on more aggressive and in the end I think I did OK”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “Trento showed its worth tonight, even though they might not have played at their best. We did not manage to take this great opportunity, it seemed we had the hand brake on. We should have dared more, especially at the end of sets, but I have to admit that it’s not always easy against team of that level”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-9)

Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia: Contreras 6, Cozzi 10, Sammelvuo 6, Vieira De Oliveira 5, Ferraro, Diaz Mayorca 18, Simeonov 23, Shumov 6, Bozidis, Cicola (L). DNP Divis, Cannistrà Maurizio. Coach. Gulinelli

Alberto Giuliani (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We could talk about how things went but I saw my team with fighting spirit and will to do well so that’s OK. Let’s think about the next game”.

SISLEY TREVISO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (23-25, 22-25, 17-25)

Lube Banca Marche Macerata:  Lebl 8, Giovi (L), Vermiglio 3, Bartoletti, Snippe 13, Saraceni, Martino 8, Corsano (L), Santana 8, Omrcen 14. DNP Monopoli, Swiderski, Podrascanin. Coach. De Giorgi

Francesco Dall’Olio (Sisley Treviso): “We were in it until the middle of the second set. We failed to take our chances and at least make a different result in the first set. We have to understand quickly that nobody can resolve the problems single-handedly. In this situation, we have to make a great effort, mentally too. We have to find our rhythm back with composure and fighting spirit”.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “To win in Treviso is always an important result, we’ll know we’ll face them again. I’m happy with my team, which found a balance, even with Snippe and Swiderski on. We’re focusing mainly on our game and that shows with the results we’re getting”.

SERIE A2 TIM

Bassano defeats Latina

Bassano proved it had the technique and fighting spirit to do the job against the bigger teams too. It dominated Latina at home, blocking its best players at the net and relying on the outstanding Tamburo once more, who stopped Giombini and co, who found themselves 8 points adrift now. The only team that keeps up with Cretu’s team is Santa Croce. The team from Toscany dominated Gioia del Colle in the first two sets. It lost the third but managed to snatch the hard-fought fourth 34-32. Another team in great form is Isernia, who came back from Mantova with a 3-1 win. Coach fenoglio had spiker Libraro and middleblocker D’Avanzo as his main men. Radames Lattari registered another win with Castellana Grotte. The team from the Puglia region dictated the rhythm in the first two sets. Roma tried a comeback but too many mistakes on the serve meant it was over in 3 sets. Meanwhile, Catania snatched a tie-break home win over Cavriago.
