TODAY THE SERIE A VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE’S ASSEMBLY.

Use and hiring of foreign players:

approved an official document to submit to the international sports Authorities

Today, friday the 11th of april, in bologna, the General Assembly of the Serie A Volleyball League has met.

The assembly has aknowledged that in the past few weeks the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has decided to bring some substantial changes to the ways foreign players are going to be hired and used in all the championships around the world, which means the impossibility to guarantee the Italian championship a balanced future both from a technical and a financial point of view.

Having said that, the league believes a meeting with FIVB pres. Acosta and CEV Pres. Dr. Meyer is needed, considering Carlo Magri, FIPAV president, has not correctly brought forward the Italian Serie A Clubs requests and needs, creating an obstacle for the projects. Magri’s declarations of today are highly surprising, saying he is after reaching common grounds with the Clubs and the Leagues, after months of deafening silence.

The logic underlined in the projects for the next 4 years is to keep the championship at the highest technical level worldwide, currenty through a liberalisation of foreign players’ hire, keeping substancial investments in the junior sectors, italianisation of the Serie A2 championship, all of which respecting the national and international regulations with regards to the subject, just like it has been submitted invane to the Italian Federal President.

With that in mind, agreed by all the people present, a document has been approved for the League’s president, Diego Mosna, tu submit to the international Sports Authorities.
