Treviso: In Monday night’s game between Treviso and Piacenza, the hosts came on court with two important changes in the starting line-up: coach Angelo Lorenzetti sent Boninfante and Bravo on instead of Meoni and Falasca.

Everyone decided to hit the serve hard, but Treviso’s dig is more efficient and mobile. Meanwhile, Piacenza shows a little superiority in attack. Lorenzetti used his usual continuous turnover. Falasca was given the clutch serve at 23-24 for Piacenza and he did not disappoint, converting the ace to take the first set.

In the second set, Piacenza kept putting Treviso’s reception under pressure. It imposed its rhythm and went ahead 2-0 on the scoreboard.

Treviso’s reaction came in the third set with the middleblockers Gustavo and Hubner being the difference between the two sides. Gustavo hit the serves hard while the other Brazilian was blocking just fine at the net. Piacenza tried a comeback but the host kept their composure.

All over sudden, Piacenza appeared to be nervous, making an awful lot of careless mistakes. Treviso could not asked for more, and accepted, grateful, to play a tie-break.

Piacenza reassured itself with some good serving and attacks they were making in the first set. Thanks to these weapons, Piacenza eventually left Treviso’s PalaVerde gym with the win. Meanwhile, Treviso will have to wait further for its first home victory.

INTERVIEWS

Stefan Hubner (Sisley Treviso): “There has been some positive in this game, like coming back from 2-0 down. Piacenza’s serve was more efficient and that’s how they manage to regain the reins of the game”.

Dante Boninfante (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “It was a really tough game. Treviso is a great team that never gives up. It’s been a streaky game, we did well in the first two sets, then they took over in the others. We still proved we are improving and the defeat against Vibo helped”.
