Macerata back in pole position

In the 11th round return games, Macerata took advantage of Trentino’s home loss against Perugia to go back on top of the league. The Italian champs played the game with an unprecedented starting six, and with many important players left out to rest for the return game of the Champions League quarter final. Against one of the most in-form teams like Perugia, the defeat was the price to pay. Stokr shined once more with 25 points.

Following its convincing win against the European Champions, Kazan, Macerata kept at it with another sweep, this time against Modena. This allows De giorgi’s team to save physical and mental energy before the return European leg.

A tie-break was necessary to divide Treviso and Montichiari. In the end, the guests had the better thanks to a near-perfect attack with Cisolla and Fei over the 70%. It’s still one more point for the playoffs, but it is certainly not reassuring given that Vibo Valentia won 3-0 against Forli.

Martina Franca secured their place in the A1 next year, as it expressed its full potential against Piacenza, who never got in the game mainly because of an inconsistent attack. Padova is still mathematically in with a chance to stay up. They defeated Cuneo 3-1 in what represents the big upset of the day. It is probably too little too late but they reacted with pride and kept their hopes to stay up alive a little longer, at least until Monday night, when Pineto hosts Verona.

They did not play at their best and we did a good job of coming back in the third when we were four down. We surely lacked resources compared to Perugia but we proved we could play face to face and that’s why we’re that disappointed to come out of it without any point”.

In the first two sets, we played almost to perfection taking full advantage of Trentino’s problems in the line up.
