Another protagonist of the league title 2008-09 was Jiri Kovar. Born in 1989, the spiker from the Czech Republic came up in Treviso’s youth ranks before signing for Loreto. He had a very positive debut season with 153 points in attack, 27 blocks and 13 aces.
“When I was offered the possibility to start in the A2, I did not hesitate one second – said Jiri – At the beginning our target was to try at least to get to the playoffs but as the games went by we realised we were a very good team that could try to aim higher”.
